Well, I am finally able to sit down and post this blog regarding the launch of Overflow yesterday (Sunday, 3/16/08)! It was truly an awesome, and humbling, sight on launch Sunday as we were able to share a morning of worship and teaching with 141 adults and children from all backgrounds, races, ages, and economic classes! We truly saw the vision of Overflow (as a “Christ centered movement for all people”) being birthed and launched yesterday and were very excited that the majority of the people present were directly from the surrounding community of St. Joseph/Benton Harbor.

One of the highlights of the morning was the failure of the combination of our sound equipment, which provided many laughs as we passed a faulty mic back and forth during a portion of the message. It was definitely a morning that helped us to all remember the true reason we are gathering (every Sunday now)!

We continued the launch celebration with an evening Fiesta with our launch team family & friends.

I want to personally thank all of those involved in praying, networking, and financially supporting Overflow who have helped make the launch of this new church possible. We are truly grateful for all that you have done, and continue to do, and ask that you would keep us in your prayers as we prepare for our first Easter Worship Celebration this coming Sunday.

How God has provided and you can be praying:

• We have been given a bus and a licensed bus driver and need prayer now for this incredible opportunity to impact Berrien Homes (160 unit apartment complex near the mall and cinema). Pray God opens doors to the residents and builds new relationships.


• We have an amazing leadership team of 40 adults (divided into multiple ministry teams) and every team finds itself a little short handed right now. Please pray for an increase in those that would be willing to serve on our teams (especially children’s, music, and technology)


• We have a tremendous amount of momentum in the community right now and need prayer for the growth to occur not just numerically, but also spiritually as “un-churched and de-churched” people find their way to Jesus Christ through Overflow.


• We have been given the opportunity to move into a home in Benton Harbor next month and look forward to bringing all of our possessions together in one place and settling into a home now as a family in the community. Please continue to pray for our home in Battle Creek to sell.
